FAQ

Where did you flight train?

I started my flight training at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. After a few semesters, I transferred to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks to finish my training. I left UND with my Commercial AMEL, ASEL, and instrument rating.

Do I have to have a college degree to become an airline pilot?

Not at all! Just because I went the collegiate aviation route does not mean it's the best path for everyone. There are only two airlines in the United States (that I know of) who absolutely require a 4-year Bachelors degree. For most U.S.-based airlines, a college degree is only preferred (but makes you more competitive).

What's the first step to become a pilot?

Take a discovery flight! Discovery flights are short, 45-60 minute flights with a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). You get to fly the plane and experience a little bit of what flight training is like. You can also use these flights to "feel out" a flight school and make sure it's the right fit.

Pro tip: you can usually find discounts on discovery flights on sites like Groupon!
